Welcome to Strait Support Pty Ltd, a 100% Indigenous owned and operated construction company, committed to increasing Indigenous participation in the workforce by providing local employment opportunities in the construction industry.
Based on Darnley Island in the Torres Strait, Strait Support provides a range of construction services including concreting, civil works, construction, repairs and maintenance.

WHAT DO WE DO?
CONCRETING
Strait Support’s concrete truck, remote batching plant and skid steer loaders equipped with hydraulic mixers provide efficient and economical concrete batching options in remote locations.
PLANT & EQUIPMENT HIRE
Strait Support has a range of vehicles and plant available for wet hire throughout the Torres Strait. The telehandler, skid steers, excavator and trucks make a perfect combination for earthworks.
REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE
Strait Support is a QBCC-licensed Low Rise Builder providing carpentry, electrical and plumbing repairs and maintenance across residential and community assets.

Koppens engaged Strait Support to assist us with the concrete slab extensions and fencing for the Sewer Pump Station Upgrades on Darnley Island. The Strait Support crew did a first-rate job in the inclement conditions with intermittent heavy rains being experienced during construction. This project also included a requirement for training to be provided, Shane and Stacey Lui were instrumental in helping us to successfully coordinate and deliver civil construction training to six local people. Koppens would not hesitate to engage Shane and the Strait Support crew to assist us again with any future projects in the Torres Straits.

Darnley Deep Seafood is open for business
The Erub freezer is the first infrastructure to be upgraded as part of the Torres Strait Regional Authority’s (TSRA) Wapil initiative. It is now fully staffed and structurally sound with a new roof and storeroom. On 25 August 2020 it was officially re-opened under its new trading name Darnley Deep Seafood. The TSRA Chairperson, Mr Napau Pedro Stephen AM congratulated the building team, Strait Support on achieving 73 per cent Indigenous participation during construction. While commercial fishers are pleased to have a point of seafood processing and trade on the island, local entrepreneurs are excited about the associated opportunities created.
